Our first meeting will be held on September 3rd at 6:30 PM in the Cafeteria. For this meeting, only one parent from each family is required to attend. The purpose of the meeting is to finalize our registration, collect the $50 dues, and make team assignments. We would prefer that students not attend so that we can cover necessary registration items and then dismiss the meeting as quickly as possible. If you are unable to leave your students at home, please feel free to bring them along. Dues will be $50 and can be paid by cash, check made out to STEM United, or via Venmo. We will provide details during this registration meeting.
Parent participation at our weekly meetings and our end of season events is essential for a successful and meaningful experience for the students. During the September 3rd meeting we will cover what is expected of the students and their parents. We will also cover the schedule for the season and answer any questions parents may have.Â
The first full team meeting for grades K-3, FLL Explore Teams, will meet in the Cafeteria on Tuesday September 10th from 6:15 to 7:30 and every Tuesday through early December for those days when school is in session for a full day.
The first full team meeting for grades 4 & 5, FLL Challenge Teams, will meet September 5th from 6:00 pm to 7:45 pm in the Media Center. FLL Challenge Team meetings will be held in either the Media Center or Art Room, depending on room availability and team sizes, every Tuesday & Thursday through early December for those days when school is in session for a full day.
At least one parent will need to register through the FIRST website in order to give their child permission to join the team. Please bring a laptop or tablet capable of accessing the internet so we can walk you through the registration process on September 3rd. Our goal is to get all of the necessary paperwork out of the way before we start meeting with the students.
Please Note: Parents are required to participate in our meetings and assist team members in their problem solving efforts in order to be ready for our Explorer Expo and Challenge Competitions.
Note: *Venmo does not charge for sending money from a linked bank account, debit card, or your Venmo account. There is a 3% fee for sending money using a linked credit card.
